RARE ENGAGEMENTS

The Dossier would like to invite you to the first of our curated electronic soirees, PLUG 01, Tuesday September 16 at NYC's The Bowery Electric. PLUG intends to be a semi-regular showcase for live performers working across the spectrum of electronic music, from pop to techno to ambient to noise and every square wave in between, all glued together by the selections of a rotating guest DJ.

The maiden voyage sees a rare electronic smorgasbord take the stage: Lost Children, the solo guise of Avery Brooks (Ice Choir), an outfit that blends elements of new wave, darkwave, and electro; Blush Response, the primary outlet of modular sound terrorist Joey Blush, a thick amalgam of glitchy beats and industrial flavors; and yours truly, The Dossier, who will be celebrating the release of the Strange Arrangements LP at long last, out digitally that day (with the limited physical edition following a week later), playing favorites from the record as well as new, unheard material. Guest DJ Derek Rush (Compactor, A Murder of Angels) builds the evening's sonic scaffolding before, between, and after the live acts.

The circuits get bent at The Bowery Electric, where the ghosts of CBGB have surely taken up residence in rebuke to the strip of luxury hotels that's replaced the rock dives and SROs. Tuesday September 16, doors 7:30pm, 21+, $8 tickets in advance, $10 at the door. RSVP and preview line-up details on the Facebook event page, and come help us fill the live electronic hole with PLUG.

SINGLES GOING STEADY

The thaw seems to finally be upon us, and to celebrate we'd like to share the first single proper off our endlessly squirming at the gate but imminent LP Strange Arrangements.

On the 'A-side', Limb From Limb is a long-standing live favorite with which we've closed out innumerable shows--an anthemic declaration of true love to a terminal depressive (wherever you are, wherever you are).

On the 'B-side', we're excited to offer an exclusive remix of another Strange Arrangements track--Let Your Heart Speak My Name has been worked over by Trade Secrets, a bicoastal collaboration between NYC electro-rock comrades Hypefactor and West Coast dreampoppers The New Division (who've just dropped their own excellent new LP Together We Shine), transforming a lonely midnight ballad into a thinking person's lumbering dance juggernaut.

The tracks are up for full preview and purchase via Bandcamp, and discounted as a pair--we've never been the sort to rattle the digital cup on the front end a la Kickstarter, so we hope if your ears are piqued you'll pick up both as a taster for the full LP, due this spring digitally and as a limited gatefold CD with lyrics and beautiful photography by Give Me Your Name director William Murray

We'll be plotting new shows around the release of the album, but whet your appetite with these morsels in the meantime and keep your eyes/ears peeled for The Dossier's take on a cut from The New Division's LP. As always, do let us know what you think…contrary to conventional wisdom, you should always feed the animals.

HOWL

We're back to the live fray Tuesday January 28 as one-third of an excellent electronic bill at Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn, where we'll share the stage with the dark, (be)witching dubstep-inflected sounds of WOLVVES and the irrepressible, irresistible dancepop of comrades The Mystic Underground.

For our part, we'll be playing cuts from our much-delayed but achingly imminent debut LP Strange Arrangements as well as airing brand new, as yet unheard material. We're up first, so come early and make a night of it--excellent grub can be had in Cameo's attached restaurant--and this is an evening that promises to be strong from start to finish.

RSVP and get advance tickets via Facebook and join the pack--show doors 8pm, $8, 21+.
